Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

PlantSense ("we", "our", "us") is an AI gardening app that helps you identify, care for, and track your plants. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've kept it short and plain.

1. User accounts and email addresses

When you sign up — including for the beta — we collect your email address and basic account details so we can create your account, sign you in, and contact you about the service. We never sell your email.

2. Plant photos

Photos you upload for plant identification or diagnosis are sent to our servers and to AI providers strictly to process your request. We store them so you can revisit past identifications and so we can improve diagnosis accuracy. You can delete photos at any time.

3. Saved plants, notes, timelines, reminders, and care plans

Plants you save, notes you write, care timelines, reminders, and personalized care plans are stored in your account so they sync across devices. This content belongs to you.

4. AI analysis and recommendations

PlantSense uses AI models to identify plants, detect issues, and generate care recommendations. AI output may be imperfect — please use judgment, especially for edible or sensitive plants. Inputs are processed solely to generate your result and improve the service.

5. Notifications

If you enable notifications, we send reminders (watering, fertilizing, light) and occasional service updates. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

6. Third-party services

We rely on trusted providers to run PlantSense. Each only receives the data it needs:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Expo — mobile app delivery, updates, and push notifications.
  • OpenAI — AI-powered plant identification and recommendations.
  • Google Play — app distribution and, where applicable, in-app purchases.
  • RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management.
  • Sentry — crash and error reporting to help us fix bugs.

These providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data.

7. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your account, but no system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.

8. Account and data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, self-service, directly from the app: open PlantSense, go to Settings, scroll to the Account section, and tap Delete Account. Your account is deactivated immediately and your data — profile, plant collection, scan history, care plans, journal entries, reminders, and settings — is permanently removed as part of the same action. This cannot be undone. See our full Account & Data Deletion policy for complete details, including what's retained and the deletion timeline. If you'd rather not open the app, email plantsense.app@gmail.com from your account's registered address and we'll process the deletion for you.

9. We do not sell your data

PlantSense does not sell your personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party. Ever.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
